TRANSITIONS LENSES (Plastic lenses that change)

Transitions lenses are plastic lenses that are clear in color while indoors and change to either a dark gray or brown when exposed to UV light outdoors. Transitions lenses are also temperature sensitive and will respond differently when worn in different climates. These lenses are available in many different styles such as single vision, bifocals, trifocals and progressive (no line) bifocals. Ask your eyecare professional which material and style best fit your needs.

HIGH INDEX (The thinner lenses)

The market has been flooded with new lens products designed to make your eyewear look more attractive and feel more comfortable. High index lenses play a big part in accomplishing this. High index lenses are significantly lighter than glass lenses and even lighter than regular plastic lenses. High index lenses are available for most prescriptions and lens styles. Your eyecare professional can demonstrate the differences.

POLARIZED LENSES (For the ultimate in outdoor sunwear)

Polarizing material when incorporated into lenses cut glare, and is invaluable for activities such as driving and particularly any hobby done on or near water such as fishing and boating. Skiers also find a great benefit from snow reflection. Single vision and many styles of multifocals are available in polarized versions. Plastic is the preferred material. Your eyecare professional should be able to demonstrate the benefits of polaroid lenses.

SILK A/R COATINGS

IMPROVE YOUR NIGHT VISION
Anti-Reflective coating virtually eliminates the often dangerous reflective glare from oncoming headlights. By seeing more clearly at night, you can drive with greater comfort and confidence.

REDUCE EYE STRAIN
Spending long hours at a computer screen, whether at work or play, can dramatically contribute to eye fatigue. Anti-Reflective coating eliminates the glare and discomfort this activity often causes.

DON'T HIDE YOUR EYES ANY LONGER!
Now you can eliminate annoying reflections on your lenses with Anti-Reflective coating, enhancing your ability to communicate with others. Your lenses will become nearly invisible, making it easier for you to see better, and look better!

THE CLEAR BENEFITS OF A/R COATING
Distracting reflections and glare can rob your eyes of up to 14% of available light. Anti-Reflective coating allows virtually all the available light to pass through your lenses for sharper, clearer, more comfortable vision. Recent tests prove that patients are able to see more clearly with Anti-Reflective coating, especially under low light conditions at night when reduced light transmission can seriously effect vision. And the new generation of most Anti-Reflective coatings now have a special topcoat which makes your lenses easier to clean and care for than ever before!

POLYCARBONATE (The toughest lens made!)

If you or your children are active in sports this lens option is for you. Polycarbonate lenses are the strongest, safest lens material available today. These lenses are naturally thinner, lighter and include UV protection. Your eyecare professional will be very willing to demonstrate the benefits of polycarbonate lenses.

Trivex

Trivex material is a urethane-based pre-polymer. In 2001, PPG developed and refined it for use as an ophthalmic lens material. Lenses made from Trivex material are cast in molds using a special machine and thermally cured. The tri performance properties of the material provide for crisp and clear, strong and safe, light and thin lenses when compared to other materials currently available.

Trivex material’s unique properties make it an ideal lens material for nearly every eyeglass wearer.
